As visitors walk the campus, they will pass through a series of spaces, experiencing a progression from the everyday to the spiritual realm. They will transition from large to small spaces, rough to refinement, noise to quietness, and community to individual solitude. As they near the Sanctuary, having crossed one space and into the next, they become more focused, serene, and engaged.
A seamless connection between design and nature, and the indoors and outdoors is provided by the Sanctuary’s archaic earthen walls and glazing. The walls delicately rise up from the earth, while glazing separates them from graceful roof forms and the desert floor, and provides the worship space with an abundant amount of light.
