The kiosk is a 3' by 3' by 7' high composition of light, color, layering and textures. Translucent fiberglass panels form the kiosk’s exterior layers, which feature light rail station maps and brochure holders. Its color, translucency, super graphics and cutouts attract the curiosity of pedestrians, who are drawn to interact with it. Forming the kiosk’s core is a rustic steel mesh frame containing natural rock, a geological interpretation of the green screen system used on the metro light rail stations. The kiosk’s outer and inner layers unite ancient natural materials and contemporary man-made materials, speaking a subtle reminder of the vital and ongoing relationship between design and nature.
The kiosk received honorable mention. |
